New Year’s Resolution-Don’t Drink and Drive

Posted On: December 30th, 2014

Tomorrow is New Year’s Eve, and that means celebrations, food, drink, and parties.  This year, we want your first New Year’s resolution to be finding a sober ride home.

Each year, new statistics emerge about the harsh realities of drunk driving during the holiday season. This year is no different.  The U.S. Department of Transportation reports that 300 Americans die each year in the handful of days surrounding Christmas and New Year’s holidays.  An average of 27 people die each day in December due to drunk-driving related accidents.  This is one of the first years in recent memory where the number of alcohol related fatalities has actually risen from the past year.

This statistic should serve as a sobering reminder that all drivers should be extra cautious while on the roads, not just tomorrow night, but every day of the New Year.

As always, remember to buckle up, drive defensively, and give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to go before the ball drops.

Happy New Year from all of us at LaMarche Safranko Law.
