Matthew G. Favro, Esq.

Matthew Favro is a graduate of Providence College, and Albany Law School, where he graduated cum laude.  While at Albany Law, he served as the Managing Editor for Lead Articles for the Albany Law School Journal of Science and Technology.  He was also an active participant in the American Inns of Court program.

After graduating law school in 2006, Matthew practiced as an associate at Ford, Marin, Esposito, Witmeyer & Gleser, L.L.P., in Manhattan before becoming an associate at The Law Office of Gary L., Favro, PLLC, in Plattsburgh, New York.  Matthew concentrates his practice in the areas of state and federal criminal defense, family law, real estate, plaintiff’s personal injury and civil litigation.

Currently, Matthew is the vice-president of the Clinton County Bar Association, the secretary for the Cliff Haven Homeowner’s Association, and is an active board member at Behavioral Health Services North and the North Country Center for the Arts.

 

Daniel N. DeFio

Daniel N. DeFio is a graduate of Oswego State University (Accounting) and a cum laude graduate of Albany Law School, where he earned a concentration in Estate Planning with Honors, Justinian Society membership and served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association.

Prior to attending law school, Daniel worked extensively in both the accounting and insurance industries, earning recognition by the Syracuse Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs for outstanding achievement in the accounting field.

Prior to founding the DeFio Law Firm, PLLC in 2003, Daniel worked for The Ayco Company, LP in Clifton Park, New York, preparing financial and estate plans for key clients of the firm, and for Scolaro, Shulman, Cohen, Fetter & Burstein, LLP, a 25-attorney law firm in Syracuse, New York, where his practice was limited to estate, tax and business succession planning for high net worth individuals.

Over his 15 years of practice, Daniel has represented a wide variety of clients, including successful transition of a family business using complex trust arrangements to minimize taxes, trust arrangements for minor children, and asset protection planning to avoid nursing home expenses.   In addition, Daniel has extensive experience preparing gift and estate tax returns for both the Internal Revenue Service and New York State Department of Taxation and Finance.

Daniel is admitted to practice before all New York State Courts and the United States Supreme Court.   He also holds New York State licenses in Life and Annuities and Property and Casualty Insurance.

He is a frequent speaker on topics of Estate Planning, Will & Trust Drafting, Estate Tax Issues, Medicaid Planning and Surrogate Court Practice.   He is a member of the New York State Bar Association’s Elder Law Section and a past Executive Committee Member of the New York State Bar Trust and Estates Law Section.
